Abstract

In its Symposium feature, Promissio inculcates appreciative and critical discussion of the theological themes of a significant book worth knowing and discussing. Gordon Jensen’s new book on baptism as also the calling to discipleship reflects the narrative of the baptism of Jesus in the Gospels wherein immersion under John the Baptist in the waters of repentance is immediately connected with the descent of the sanctifying Spirit who sends Jesus into battle against Satan and his legion forces. Into this Christological reality and Pneumatological empowerment Christians are baptized, hence called to discipleship.
